As a hematologist-oncologist, Dr. Basu specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of blood diseases and cancers such as iron-deficiency anemia, hemophilia, sickle-cell disease, leukemia, and lymphoma. He is a 2004-graduate of The University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, NJ. His postgraduate training includes his internal medicine residency served at the Cleveland Clinic (2004-2007), as well as his hematology-oncology fellowship performed at the University of Washington Medical Center/Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (2007-2010). Dr. Basu attained board certification in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology with the American Board of Internal Medicine. He remains a member of the American Society for Blood Marrow Transplantation, the American Society of Hematology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. When not with patients, he enjoys music, playing piano, chess, and various sports. He also fenced at the varsity level on Johns Hopkins University Men’s Fencing team. Additionally, Dr. Basu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical engineering from Johns Hopkins University, and a doctoral degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from RWJMS.
